A tragedy of major proportions

I had sent this to the West the other day. Also had a conversation with the Commissioner about the matter yesterday. Early days in the investigation and it is up to us to keep the pressure on via vigils etc. But just remember - don't discuss the "facts" of the case as we don't want to jeopardise the prosecution in any way. Love to all the family and mob.

There are many amongst us who are quick to point to offending rates by people of Aboriginal and First Nations descent as a major contributor to their over representation in the criminal justice system. What we often forget to consider is that Aboriginal people are also severely overrepresented in the “Victims of Crime” statistics. In fact, the latest ABS data indicates that the overrepresentation can be anything between 3 and 6 times that of Non-Indigenous people.

Today we have the case of Cassius. Given that the matter is the subject of charges it would seem to be inappropriate to speculate as to the motivation of the attack. However, there are other matters that go to the care that was provided to this boy. Should he have been kept in PCH longer than he was? Does this also bring into question issues besetting our health system?
