Failings in our health system
Today, Desmond Blurton called on the WA Government to take responsibility for the actions of our Health System.
Mr Blurton said “Again, Aboriginal people have become the victims of a racist medical system where a young Aboriginal child, Kailee, Rest in Dreamtime, was taken too soon from a young family. The treatment meted out to the little girl was undoubtedly sub-human and the doctor involved should be taken to task for mistreatment and abuse of a young child”.
We, at Deaths in Custody Watch Committee W.A., demand judicial oversight of the doctor’s actions and we call on the community to get behind the young family at this stressful time. We have sought the assistance of Community Advocate Suresh Rajan to assist us in this matter. He has sought information from the Director General of Health and we are now awaiting a response and contact from them.
The parents are also suffering a double tragedy as they are prevented from “sorry business” as Kailee’s little sister, is holding onto life with the same issue in Intensive Care Unit in Perth Children’s Hospital.
The family has established a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral and final rites as required.
