Apartheid is still alive in Australia

The collateral damage of these referenda is something about our society that is decidedly unedifying. I have sent this to the papers. Not sure it will get a guernsey! The image is from the 1967 Referendum. "24/03/2023 It is incredibly depressing to again hear the same tired and non-inclusive discourse that is going on in our community at the moment. And all of this has to do with the “Voice to Parliament” referendum. It seems to be a rather unedifying aspect of Australia that, despite my 48 years of living here, depresses me terribly. We saw this all play out when we looked at the issue of Same Sex marriages some years ago. At that time, the target of our vitriol was the LGBTIQ community. Today it is the First Nations Communities. It is a sad failing of our society that we do not seem to be able to think in Human Rights or inclusive terms at all. Hopefully, our Aboriginal communities are receiving assistance from others to be able to deal with the continued and sustained denigration of them that will continue at least until the referendum is decided (hopefully in a positive fashion).
