A noble game watched by whom?

And yet again we demonstrate that there is a fundamental streak of racism that runs through society here in Australia. We have guests here from the Indian Sub-Continent here to play the noble game of cricket. A number of these players have given up time with families and friends so as to be able to play the game at the highest level in front of crowds in Australia.

The bravado that this racist element shows simply highlights the fact that these people have been emboldened by our leaders. Yes, we can be astounded by the ranting and raving by the President of the United States. But let us take a moment to understand that supporting the likes of Pauline Hanson, Fraser Anning and others of their ilk is exactly why we are here. And “here” is where the racist element thrives.

We can shake our heads at this small group of people who have been ejected from the SCG. However, we need to also understand that they would have no spine were it not for the election of those people I have named above.

Let us remember that when next we cast our votes to elect our representatives.

Sincerely

Suresh Rajan
