The one thing you can count on is the fact the West newspaper will not publish my letters especially when it points out the obvious flaw in the arguments its letter writers are promoting. Here's my latest letter that they have ignored:

Diane Opie suggests that “if 30% of Australians are Non-Christians then 70% are”. Ms Opie is missing a significant group in her conflation of the statistical data.
According to the 2016 Census data (the most recent) only three fifths of the Australian population or 61% are affiliated with a religion at all. 39% are not associated with ANY religion. Approximately 86% of this religious adherent group is Christian in its broadest sense including all the various denominations (Catholic, Anglican Baptist, Pentecostal etc). So, at best 52% (86% of 61%) are Christian and 48% are not.
Yes it is still a majority but a significantly smaller group than Ms Opie would have us believe.
The fastest growing group in the Australian “religious/non-religious” community is in fact the group that do not identify with any religion. Between 2011 and 2016 this group grew by around 50%.
